New Delhi, June25: Amid reports that Sonia Gandhi has asked only spokespersons to air Congress' views, party General Secretary Digvijay Singh today dismissed suggestions that the AICC has issued any gag order in this regard.
“You have written so many times about the gag order. Show me a copy of the gag order,” Singh told reporters.
He was asked about reports that at the Congress Working Committee meeting yesterday, party chief Sonia Gandhi is learnt to have remarked that only party spokespersons would spell out the party's stance.
There was no comment of the AICC on the report that was seen as a snub to Singh whose statements have at several times been at variance with those of the party spokespersons.
Asked whether such a direction was issued at the CWC, Singh said: “I will never discuss what has happened in the CWC with anyone. I am committed not to say anything about what transpired.”
Reports had it that Sonia was learnt to have told the CWC that the “party's thinking will be reflected by only spokespersons and Janardan Dwivedi as head of the Media department”.
Other senior leaders in the AICC, also, refused to comment on the issue. PTI
