Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh on Sunday said as his resignation from key posts was not yet accepted by Mulayam Singh Yadav, he would not be able to actively participate in party-related issues.
"My resignation has not been accepted by Mulayam ji. I hold him in high esteem and he is my well wisher. However, I am just an ordinary party worker now and, therefore unlike earlier, I will not be able to participate in party-related issues," Singh told a TV channel here. He, however, added he had no differences with the SP chief.
"I have no differences with Mulayam Singh Yadav. However, in reply to Ram Gopal's comment that film actors have not been beneficial for the party, I would like to say that Jaya Bachchan is in the party on her own esteem and Jaya Prada (party's Rampur MP) has broken the Congress stronghold there," Singh said.
Asked about his future course of action, Singh said keeping in mind the interest of his supporters and those who joined SP on his assurance "I will have to find an alternative for the sake of my supporters".
Singh denied rumours having spoken to Congress Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Shukla over him joining the party.
Earlier in the day, Muradabad MLA Sandeep Agarwal demanded the party chief to immediately restore Singh to the posts he had resigned from otherwise he and 25 of his office colleagues in the assembly will be "bound to quit".
In a letter to Yadav, Agarwal said Amar Singh has done a lot for the party and condemned general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav for his "anti-Amar" comments.
Meanwhile, SP (Youth) general secretary Brijesh Singh also resigned in protest against Amar Singh's resignation from key party posts.
In Kolkata, meanwhile, the SP chief said that he has not accepted Singh's resignation from three key posts of the party.
"I have not accepted Singh's resignation as I have a deep relation with him. Everything will be fine and settled," Yadav said.
Last week Amar Singh had resigned from the post of party general secretary, member of SP parliamentary board and as its national spokesperson.
Singh, currently in Dubai, in the fax containing his resignation, had also requested the SP supremo to make Ram Gopal the party spokesperson.
Even as Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav tried to reach out to him, a sulking Amar Singh on Sunday said he has to find an "alternative" for his supporters one of whom claimed that about 25 party MLAs were ready to quit the party in his support.
Notwithstanding calls against any rapprochement with his close lieutenant, Yadav today ruled out accepting the resignation of Amar Singh from key party posts and said differences will be sorted out soon.
"Amar Singh has resigned from the post of General Secretary and from the membership of the party's Parliamentary Board. But our relationship is such that I will not accept his resignation. This will be resolved soon," he told reporters here after visiting ailing CPI(M) leader Jyoti Basu at a hospital in Kolkata.
On the resignation of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who has stated that he was stepping down as SP General Secretary in the wake of his mentor Amar Singh's decision, Yadav said, "Everything will be fine."

Muradabad MLA Sandeep Agarwal meanwhile said he and 25 of his fellow party MLAs will be "bound to quit" if Amar Singh's resignations are accepted.
