Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today utilised Raksha bandhan festival for creating awareness about environment protection by tying rakhi to trees for their protection.





The CM tied rakhi to trees at a programme here at Eco park and appealed to the people to do so to protect trees which are a necessity for environment safeguard.  

“Like it is responsibility of brother to protect sister, the programme of tying rakhi to tree aims to spread similar commitment for saving of plants,” he told reporters.  

The noble way of environment protection by tying rakhi on trees was started by Kumar along with the then Deputy Chief Minister and Environment and Forest minister Sushil Kumar Modi in 2011.

The motto of the programme is to strengthen bond between man and nature.

A large number of women and school girls present in the Eco park tied rakhi on the wrist of the CM.  

His cabinet colleagues Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Vijay Chaudhary, Shyam Rajak besides, Secretary Environment and Forest Deepak Kumar Singh, were present on the occasion.
