Mission 2024: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is on task to unite the Opposition to take on Bharatiya Janta Party, met his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata on Monday afternoon. Bhiar CM and his deputy Tejashwi Yadav called on Banerjee at state secretariat 'Nabanna'.

"We have to give message that we are all together," said Mamata Banerjee after the meeting. "It was a very positive discussion... Opposition parties need to sit together and strategise," said Kumar after the meeting in state secretariat Nabanna.

While details of the discussion were scanty with the leaders preferring to speak on the broader consensus, sources said the two sides used the meeting to figure out how they would proceed in sewing together a coalition that would be workable ahead of the elections.

"Nothing is being done for India's development, those ruling are only interested in their own advertisement," claimed Kumar.

“I have made just one request to Nitish Kumar. Jayaprakash ji's movement started from Bihar. If we have an all-party meeting in Bihar, we can then decide where we have to go next,” said the chief minister. “I want BJP to become zero. They have become a big hero with media's support and lies”, she added. When querried about the involvement of the Congress party in theopposition unity, Banerjee said "all parties were involved."

All parties must prepare together for the next Lok Sabha elections, asserted Kumar.

The duo held a closed-door meeting to strategise on fighting the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

As of now, the Opposition is divided into two groups- one is Congress-led UPA and the other is Mamata Banjerjee-led Congress minus block.

Minus BJP and Congress- third front

Banerjee held similar meetings with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik last month. Telangana Chief Minister KCR also said he is of the opinion to Congress less Opposition to defeating the ruling BJP.
