Varanasi: Reliance Foundation chairperson Nita Ambani yesterday celebrated her 51st birthday in Varanasi by offering special puja at the historic Kashi Vishwanath temple and attending world famous Ganga Aarti at the Dashashwamedh Ghat.
She arrived here with her family in a special charted plane on Saturday afternoon.
Nita, accompanied by husband Mukesh Ambani and family members reached the Kashi Vishwanath temple in evening and performed the 'rudrabhishek puja' of the Lord Shiva here. Eleven priests helped the Ambanis in conducting the 'rudrabhishek puja' and offering prayers.
A special anti-slip synthetic red carpet was laid out on the lane leading to the temple and also at the Ganga ghats.
Later, the Ambani family watched the ‘Ganga Aarti' at the Dashashwamedh Ghat.
Speaking to reporters here after ‘Ganga Aarti', she thanked the people of Varanasi for the warm welcome and said that she is happy that today she attended and performed that ‘Ganga Aarti'.
“I will visit the city again and very soon,” she replied to a question whether she will come here again or not.
The Ambanis and their forty guests stayed in Nadesar Palace hotel. Celebrities from Bollywood and sports world like Amitabh Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor, Sachin Tendulkar and many others were on the guest list for the birthday celebrations.
Varanasi is the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
