The four-member team of Indian investigators, here to question LeT operative David Coleman Headley, has remained elusive and has been dodging the media since they arrived in the US a week ago.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) team, headed by Loknath Behera, is putting up at a city hotel and repeated efforts to contact and speak to its members have been in vain. The hotel, where the team is staying, had initially confirmed that the names of Loknath Behera and Dayan Krishnan is listed in its records.
However, in an apparent move to avoid the media, the team members have removed their names from the hotel guest list and now the hotel staff says no one by these names is staying in the hotel.
The team, comprising Behera, who is an IG rank official, special public prosecutor Dayan Krishnan and two superintendents, has been in Chicago for the past four days but has remained elusive as it questions Headley, held in the federal lock Metropolitan Correctional Centre.
While the team has had access to Headley, the duration of the interrogation and number of times the team would get to meet the Pakistani-American is unclear. US authorities, including FBI official and the Attorney's office, have remained tightlipped about the details of the access. PTI
