Kolkata: The NIA, investigating the Burdwan blast case, today prayed before a city court for 15 days' custody of accused Abdul Hakim, who was released from hospital after undergoing treatment for injuries incurred during the blast.
The NIA counsel prayed before the chief judge, city sessions court, M Mumtaz Khan, that it be granted Hakim's custody for 15 days so that it can interrogate him in connection with the blast.
Hakim was released from the state-run SSKM Hospital today after being treated for splinter injuries. The central agency also prayed for judicial custody of other three arrested in connection with the case—Hasem Mollah, Rajia Bibi and Alima Bibi.
Two persons were killed in the accidental blast in a house at Khagragarh in Burdwan district on October 2 while hand grenades were being manufactured there, leading to the unearthing of an international terror link to it. The judge, after hearing the counsel, reserved the order, which would be delivered later in the day.
