Lucknow: New ropeways will be constructed on important religious circuits of Uttar Pradesh under public-private-partnership (PPP) model, an official said on Saturday.
The ways would be constructed to facilitate tourists and devotees at Chitrakoot, Ashtabhuja-Kalikhoh in Vindhyachal, and Barsana region in Mathura, principal secretary (Tourism) Navneet Sehgal told IANS.
Instructions have been issued to the developers and officials to ensure that work on these ropeways begins by the coming October.
Sehgal said Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation has been made the nodal agency for the construction and developers for the ropeways project have also been finalised.
"The site for two projects has been identified and handed over to the developers while the selection of developer for the Barsana ropeway is under consideration by the Mathura Vrindavan Development Authority which is the nodal agency for this project," the official said.
For the Barsana project, clearances have already been received by the forest department and Supreme Court (SC) and the horticulture department was requested to allocate 3600 sq. metres of land for the project.
