Kolkata: Reviewing the operational readiness of the Corps in Dimapur and Sukna, Chief of the Army Staff General Dalbir Singh today emphasized the need to maintain constant vigil along the borders of the country.
General Dalbir Singh arrived on a day-long visit to Corps headquarters in Dimapur in Nagaland and Sukna in West Bengal under the Eastern Command.
"At Spear Corps HQ, Dimapur, the Army Chief was briefed on the prevailing situation and the measures being adopted to maintain peace and tranquility in the region. The Army Chief emphasized on the need to maintain constant vigil along the northern borders," a press statement issued by the Army said.
Singh also directed that all operations in the hinterland must be people-friendly and that troops must be sensitized to uphold human rights and operate within the rules of engagement.
"The Army Chief also visited Trishakti Corps at Sukna where he reviewed the operational readiness of the Corps. He appreciate the efforts made by troops of Eastern Command for the work put in to maintain peace and stability in the region," said the statement.
