Rajnandgaon: Naxals axed to death a 30-year-old man at a village in Chhattisgarh's Rajnandgaon district on suspicion of him being a police informer.

Victim Kashiram Ukandi, a resident of Kondawahi village in the district, had on Monday gone to meet his ailing wife in Navagaon where she was staying at her parent's place, Aundhi police station in-charge P D Chandra said today.

On getting information that Kashiram was in Navagaon, the Naxals reached there on Monday night, dragged him out of the house and axed him to death, the police officer said.

The Naxals left a note at the murder spot which purportedly stated that they had killed Kashiram as he was a police informer, he said.

In the note, the rebels also claimed to have earlier this month killed a youth Manish, hailing from Bihar's Darbhanga district who was working at a cloth mill in Nagpur, for being a police informer in the area.

Meanwhile, the police recovered Kashiram's body from the spot and sent it for postmortem.

A case was registered and search for the Naxals involved in the killing was on, Chandra added.
