The governor extended his greetings to the people, particularly Kashmiri Pandits, on the occasion of ‘Jyestha Ashtami'.

Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, Sarmad Hafeez, SSP, Ganderbal, Shahid Mehraj,  President Dharamarth Trust Maj Gen (Retd) R S Jamwal and several important members of the community, the governor went around the shrine and interacted with the pilgrims who had thronged the shrine in connection with the annual mela, an official spokesman said.

Thousands of Kashmiri Pandits today thronged the revered temple of Ragnya Devi on the occasion of Kheer Bhawani festival, with some pinning hopes on the Narendra Modi-led government in seeking the community's dignified return to the Valley.

Amid Vedic chants and ringing of bells, pandits prayed for peace in Jammu and Kashmir at the temple, popularly known as Mata Kheer Bhawani temple here.
