Ahmedabad: In a Facebook initiative to promote brand Narendra Modi, Tejenderpal Singh Bagga has developed an app to help women in distress.
Bagga told the newspaper The Economic Times that if a woman finds herself in distress, she can shake her cellphone thrice within five seconds to activate the app.
"The app will then make calls to pre-determined numbers as well as to the police and start sending out location details through message.
"Even if internet is not available in a particular location for the mobile, it will track the location detail by the nearest mobile tower and forward the location", claims Bagga.
Once activated, the app will put the cellphone in silent mode and all incoming calls will be received by default.
Says Bagga: "Normally attackers tend to snatch the phone once it rings, so a silent phone is the safest bet".
The mobile app will be launched on March 8, International Women's Day.
