Haldwani (Uttarakhand): Senior Congress leader Narayan Dutt Tiwari on Tuesday took out a road show alongwith his son Rohit Shekhar in Haldwani town of Nainital region.
The nonagenarian leader wants to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar constituency on Congress ticket, but the party leadership is yet to approve his candidature.
Supporters welcomed N D Tiwari, former chief minister of UP and Uttarakhand, with garlands at several places and shouted slogans.
Sitting in a gypsy, Tiwari accepted the greetings of his supporters, and also sat on a rickshaw as he passed throught the streets of Haldwani.
Tiwari thanked the people for their support but added that the Congress high command was yet to approve his candidature.
Tiwari had last month accepted Rohit Shekhar as his son after a DNA son established that he was the biological father.
