Muzaffarnagar: A one-man inquiry commission to look into the Muzaffarnagar riots has recorded the statement of an accused here.
Former BSP MP Kadir Rana appeared before the commission and recorded his statement last evening, in which he said that he had not given any inflammatory speech in the meeting held at Khalapar here.
The inquiry commission had summoned Rana to record his statement after he submitted a written statement to the commission.
The commission led by Justice (retd) Vishnusahai, former Judge of Allahabad High Court was constituted by the state government to inquire into the Muzaffarnagar riots.
Rana is accused of making hate speeches in Khalapar locality here on August 30, 2013.
More than 60 people were killed and 40,000 displaced during riots in Muzaffarnagar district and neighbouring areas in September last.
