Ahmedabad, June 18: Noted music composer Ismail Darbar, who is desirous of joining BJP, met Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.
“Darbar expressed his commitment to work for the service of the nation through the medium of BJP,” officials in Chief Minister's office said.
Darbar, who hails from Gujarat, had earlier told a TV channel that he wanted to join BJP and was waiting for a nod from Modi.
He had also met BJP President Nitin Gadkari in Nagpur sometime ago and discussed his plans to join BJP.
Surat-born Darbar said he had a special regard for the city and Gujarat where a lot of development had taken place after Modi took over and he was inclined to join BJP for doing something for Surat and the state.
Since the last local bodies elections, Modi has been trying to change his image as an anti-minority leader. In those polls, BJP had fielded more than 100 candidates from the minority community. PTI
