Mumbai, Jan 12 : Within hours of a hawker dying of heart attack during a raid conducted by ACP Vasant Dhoble in Vakola, the self-styled Singham of Mumbai Police was transferred outside Mumbai and a CID probe has been ordered.
Sadanand Date, Joint CP (Law and Order) said, dhoble has been transferred and his place will be taken by another offcer. The state CID will probe the incident, he added.
Vasant Dhoble has been in the news for the last two years. He came into the limelight for carrying out raids on late-night parties and bars, and then shifted to Vakola division, where he carried out sudden raids against pavement hawkers.
On Friday, Dhoble carried out a raid in Vakola, and as pavement hawkers ran for their lives, one hawker Madan Jaiswal, 46, suffered a massive heart attack. He was rushed to V N Desai Hospital, where he died.
