Chaos hit Mumbai on Friday after a small section of the King Circle Railway bridge dislocated on Friday morning, hitting vehicular movement in the area. The incident took place at 7.30 am this morning. Commuters, especially during peak hours, faced trouble in commuting through the road. Those traveling towards Dadar saw paralyzed traffic.
According to an eyewitness, the vehicle rammed into the heigh-barrier installed below the King Circle Railway bridge. There were no casualties reported in the incident.
The Harbour line local trains pass through the King Circle Railway bridge which is built above the road.
The accident impacted several office-goers who commute through the key road. It added to the traffic woes as the Sion flyover, which connects the Eastern Express Highway, is also undergoing repair work.
Shivaji Sutar, chief public relations officer in Central Railways, said that a car has dashed the barrier due to which it got dislocated but there was no impact on suburban services due to the incident. "The police department has seized the car and investigation is underway," he said.
In pictures shared on social media, a huge iron black can be seen lying on the street. A crane was later moved in to remove the iron barrier which was blocking the traffic.
Traffic snarls were reported between Sion and Dadar. Motorists had a tough time as it took them almost 70 minutes to cross over.
