Maharashtra on Monday recorded 12, 160 fresh Covid 19 cases, amid a continued spike of the infection in the state. Out of this, 8,082 fresh cases were recorded in Mumbai alone, accounting for more than 66% of the state's daily case tally. Apart from this, 2 people succumbed to the infection in last 24 hours, while 622 people recovered from the infection in Mumbai today.
68 fresh Omicron cases have been recorded in Maharashtra in the last 24 hours, taking the state's case tally to 578.
1,748 patients were discharged today in Maharashtra, whiule total 65,14,358 COVID-19 patients have been discharged after full recovery until
today. Recovery rate in the state is 97.05%.
Owing to the rise in Covid cases in Mumbai, Maharashtra Health Minister Bharati Pawar will hold a meeting with health officials in Mumbai tomorrow. The meeting will start at 12 noon.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data showed the city had reported 809 cases on December 27, which meant the tally jumped by almost 10 times as on Sunday. Today, the BMC also shut classes for standards 1 to 9 and 11 till January 31, in light of rising Covid cases in the city.
India's Omicron tally has crossed the 1700-mark. Maharashtra has recorded the maximum number of 510 cases, followed by Delhi (351), Kerala (156), Gujarat (136), Tamil Nadu (121) and Rajasthan (120).
