Mumbai building collapse: rescue operation over, death toll goes up to 61

Mumbai: Exactly 48 hours after the collapse of an old BMC building near Mazgaon dockyard, rescue operation was declared over on early Sunday morning with the death toll going up to 61. Thirty one injured






All the victims were  asleep on early Friday morning, when the building collapsed like a pack of cards.

National Disaster Response Force finally called off its rescue operation in search of survivors on Sunday morning.

Among those dead was Yogesh Pawar, a journalist working with the Marathi daily Sakaal. His father also died in the tragedy.
