Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed today released Rs 10 crore as compensation for acquisition of 13 kanals of land and widening of the stretch from Pantha Chowk to Zewan Junction in Srinagar.
The Planning and Development Department, which is under the charge of the Chief Minister, released the funds under the Special Area Development Programme (SADP), said an official spokesman.
The funds were released to fast track the acquisition so that the work on widening of the road stretch is taken up on priority to avoid huge traffic jams that usually occur from Pantha Chowk to Zewan, causing great inconvenience to the commuters, he said.
The total cost of the project is Rs 23.18 crore, out of which only Rs 4.00 crore had been released so far, he added.
The funds released by the Government will help in acquisition of land and structures as well as shifting of the essential utilities, the spokesman said.
