Bhopal: The district and sessions court in Mandla today sentenced Dalit IAS officer Shashi Karnawat to five years imprisonment and Rs 50 lakhs fine in a corruption case.
The prosecution's case was that Karnawat, as CEO of district panchayat, was involved in a printing scam. She is presently deputy secretary, Technical Education in the MP government.
Karnwat had in the past accused the state government of "harassing" her for being a Dalit.
