Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping will be visiting Gujarat on September 17, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be here to receive him.
Chinese premier is scheduled to visit India in the third week of September. He will be the first president of China to visit Gujarat.
“Chinese president will be in Gujarat on September 17. Modi will also be here on that day to receive the Chinese leader. It will also be his birthday,” Patel told the gathering.
Patel today started the campaign for bypolls in Khambhalia assembly constituency in Dwarka district of Saurashtra.
She appealed to the voters to “gift” victories in all the ten seats to the Prime Minister Modi on his birthday, which would come a day after the counting of votes.
“It is the responsibility of the people of Gujarat to gift him victory at all the ten seats,” she said.
Bypolls for Vadodara Lok Sabha seat (vacated by Modi) and nine Assembly seats will be held on September 13, while counting of votes will be on September 16.
This will also be Modi's first visit to his home state after he became the Prime Minister.
