The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena led by Raj Thackeray on Friday threatened not to allow Team Australia to play cricket matches in Maharashtra during its upcoming tour in retaliation against attacks on Indians in Melbourne and other Australian cities.

MNS general secretary Shishir Shinde said in Mumbai that his party would not allow Australia to play cricket matches in the state.

Australia is to play the second one day international against India in Nagpur on October 28. It will be played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association stadium.

The seventh and last one day international will be played between India and Australia at the Brabourne stadium, Mumbai on November 11. Both are day and night matches.

Maharashtra government is yet to react to this threat from MNS, though officials say that this threat is merely part of poll rhetoric. Maharashtra goes to assembly polls on October 13.
