Nashik, Apr 10: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, which rules in Nashik Municipal Corporation, has captured three out of the six ‘prabhag samitis' (ward committees).
Elections for the committees were held on April 8 and 9.
MNS candidates won from CIDCO, Panchavati and Nashik (west) wards, while Shiv Sena won from Satpur and Nashik Road. BJP won in the Nashik (west).
MNS and its ally BJP had formed a tie-up with Sena before the committee polls. The alliance captured all the six committees.
Victorious candidates: MNS - Lata Tilay (Panchavati), Arvind Shelke (CIDCO) and Vandana Shewale (Nashik-east); Shiv Sena -Sunita Kothule (Nashik Road) and Vilas Shinde (Satpur); BJP - Dr Rahul Aher (Nashik west).
In the house of 122, MNS has 40 corporators, NCP 20, Sena 19, Congress 15, BJP 14, independent 6, RPI 03, CPM 3 and Janrajya 2.
