Guwahati: A three-year-old boy, who was injured in a blast in Assam's Bongaigaon town Monday, died of his injuries Wednesday in a hospital here, officials said.
Five people, including a woman and the boy, were injured when cadres of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) anti-talk faction lobbed a grenade near a motorcycle showroom in the town.
Four people had minor injuries, but the boy received a serious splinter injury on his head and was shifted to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for treatment, hospital officials said.
The boy breathed his last Wednesday, they said.
Police earlier confirmed the involvement of NDFB's anti-talk faction behind the blast.
The intention of the blast was to create fear psychosis in the area to strengthen the extortion net of the militants.
