Meet MP aspirant Sunita Chaudhary who promises freedom for love birds

New Delhi: Sunita Chaudhary is North India's one and only woman auto-driver. She is contesting from New Delhi constituency on National Panthers Party ticket along with biggies like Ajay Maken, Meenakshi Lekhi and Ashish Khetan with bicycle as her symbol.Crisp white trousers, a linen shirt and with her hair tied back in a bun is Choudhary's everyday look for work. Her auto is her campaigning chariot. Huge posters adorn her auto and she enjoys support from the volunteers of NGO Love Commando.She grew up in an orthodox village in Bahadurpur in Uttar Pradesh. Confined to their homes, girls from these villages still do not have access to formal education. Sunita learnt only basic reading and counting, and spent her days on household chores. She was married at the young age of 14 years to a very abusive husband and, lacking support from her parents or in-laws, Sunita was deeply unhappy. Her family didn't approve of working women, one day she decided to escape her suffering and she ran away to Delhi.After coming to Delhi Sunita decided that she would learn to drive and make her living as an auto rickshaw driver. This was a very unconventional choice for a woman as driving rickshaws is a male-dominated profession. Sunita overcame the multiple obstacles in her path and after three long years she finally secured her auto license and a loan to purchase her own auto.Finally she became the first and the only auto-rikshaw driver of North India but this was not the end to his career dreams, she has political aspirations.Chaudhary has fought three elections before two Vidhan Sabha and one Lok Sabha, she ran in the 2012 vice-presidential elections. She is a regular at protests and debates on Jantar Mantar Road. This time she has pointed some special plans for love couples in her declaration form. She stated that if she wins the election and becomes an MP then she will give power to the voice of lovers. She has stated that her main focus is women safety and better transportation system.She selflessly helps the vulnerable and abandoned women who come to seek her assistance. She wants to promote the education of girls everywhere.She is an inspiration and a reminder to women that it is always possible to follow your dreams.
