MEA issues advisory; asks Indians to avoid unnecessary travel to Iraq

New Delhi: Amid the unstable security situation prevailing in Iraq, the Ministry of External Affairs issued an advisory asking the Indian nationals in Iraq to leave the country by commercial means if it is safe

New Delhi: Amid the unstable security situation prevailing in Iraq, the Ministry of External Affairs issued an advisory asking the Indian nationals in Iraq to leave the country by commercial means if it is safe to do so.

MEA has also asked Indians to avoid unnecessary travel to Iraq.     

According to the advisory, “Our nationals living in areas affected by the ongoing armed conflict are advised to stay indoors as far as possible and are advised to remain in contact with our Embassy in Baghdad for necessary advice and updated information”

Nationals who do not have travel documents or need other consular services, can also seek assistance from the Embassy

The Indian Embassy has in Baghdad has also set up a 24 hour helpline which can be accessed for information or assistance.

The helpline numbers are: ꮼ 770 444 4899 and ꮼ 770 484 3247.
