Mathura: Two siblings, who cracked IIT entrance test but were unable to afford the fees, have been given financial assistance by a university here.
Vinita and Sudhir, a resident of Jatpura village under Mant tehsil, had secured 3044 and 5683 rank respectively in the IIT entrance exam.
Despite cracking the examination, they were unsure about their future due to financial condition of the family.
In a bid to seek financial help, the duo approached District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar during Tehsil Diwas celebration yesterday.
Kumar said responding to their plea, he approached GLA University, which has been involved in social causes since its inception, to provide Rs 1 lakh to these students.
The amount was sanctioned immediately and given to their family yesterday itself, he said.
He assured all possible helps for the better future of these hard working students and promised to pay the fee of their degree course.
The DM said financial aid has been sought for these students from Chief Minister's office as well so that they can bear the expenses other than their study.
