Ratlam, MP, Jan 12 : The mortal remains of Champalal Malwiya, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan who was killed in the Naxal attack at Latehar in Jharkhand, were cremated with state honours at his native village Ghatla near here today.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan laid a wreath on the body of Champalal and also shouldered his funeral pyre during the funeral procession.
Chouhan announced financial assistance of Rs 15 lakh to the family of Champalal and allotment of a residential plot to his wife Durga and son Harsh at Ratlam and also offered government job to Durga if she wished.
The Chief Minister also announced that a road would be built at Ghatla and Champalal's statue would be installed in the village at a site selected by the villagers.
Champalal was among the seven CRPF jawans killed in Naxal ambush in the Karmatiya forests of Latehar district in Jharkhand on January 7.
