BREAKING | BJP-led Manipur government on Tuesday ordered the suspension of Broadband internet service to be "lifted conditionally in a liberalised manner." The violence erupted on May 3 after a 'Tribal Solidarity March' was organised in the hill districts to protest against the Meitei community's demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.
More than 160 people have lost their lives, and several have been injured since ethnic violence broke out.
At a time when efforts were being made to restore peace in the northeastern state, a video of two women being paraded naked attracted nationwide condemnation. A 26-second video of the incident surfaced on July 19.
'If I can, then why can't the CM'
Meanwhile, DCW chief Swati Maliwal on Tuesday asked why CM Biren Singh till now has not met two women who were paraded naked. Maliwal, who is on a tour of the northeastern state, said she was informed by the families that neither the state chief minister, any cabinet minister, nor a senior officer from the state bothered to meet the DCW members.
