Chandigarh : Union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi will inaugurate an ultramodern anganwadi centre at Hasanpur village in Sonepat district on June 24.
Haryana Women and Child Development Minister Kavita Jain will preside over the function, an official spokesman said.
This anganwadi centre has been set up under ‘Nand Ghar Yojana' of the central government under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, he said.
A total of 4,000 such anganwadi centres would be set up in the country, he added.
Anganwadi centres have been set up in all cities and villages in order to provide better nutrition and elementary education to women and children, he said.
With a view to making these anganwadi centres better, they are being given modern look and are provided with better facilities by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, he said.
Under this programme, the Women and Child Development Ministry in collaboration with a private company, namely Vedanta, would give ‘Nand Ghar' look to 4,000 anganwadi centres across the country in the first phase, he said.
The scheme to be implemented in the entire country would be launched from village Hasanpur district Sonepat on June 24.
On this day, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would also be signed between the central government and Chairman, Vedanta for the implementation of this scheme, he said.
Apart from Haryana, the scheme is being started in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh in the first phase, the spokesman said.
