New Delhi, July 5: The Delhi High Court Thursday ordered police custody for a man who threatened the judges and also to commit suicide after it allowed his lover, a married woman who was living with him, to go with her husband.

A division bench of Justice Kailash Gambhir and Justice Indermeet Kaur asked police to take Shankar Yogi, who hails from Rajasthan, into custody after he threatened the bench which allowed 27-year-old Chandni Devi, mother of a child, to go with her husband Paramatma Nand Sharma, a Delhi resident from Jaitpur area.

The court was hearing a habeas corpus petition filed by Sharma, who alleged police failure to bring back his wife despite his representations and also a missing complaint in January this year.

The bench asked the Delhi government's Standing Counsel Pawan Sharma to ensure that Yogi was taken into police custody.

Yogi and his lover appeared before the court following its earlier direction to Delhi Police to present before it the wife on Sharma's plea. When the bench asked Sharma's wife whether she wanted to go with her husband or not, she told the court that she should be allowed to go with her husband.

The bench, after recording her statement, passed the order letting her go with her husband.

Immediately after the court's decision, Yogi told the court that the woman had come to him on her own after both of them fell in love with each other, according to the prosecution.

The lawyer said that Yogi claimed that due to her, his family members have abandoned him and now he has no way but to commit suicide.

Sharma in his plea said that he got married to her in June 2008 and they had a child in 2012. He added that Chandni went missing in January after which he lodged complaint with police.
