Dhanbad (Jharkhand) Dec 7: In a bizzare incident three sisters were burnt alive in the servant's quarter of the PHD guest house in Jharudih locality under Dhanbad Sadar here today, police said.
Usha (30), Rima (26) and Rina (24), daughters of Shiv Shankar Singh caretaker of PHD guest house were sleeping in a room and their charred bodies were found in the morning.
The PHD engineer Rajak who was staying in the guest house, found smoke billowing out from the room and raised the alarm.
Sonu Kumar husband of Rima, the second sister, is the prime suspect as the police have recovered his plastic bag, train ticket of Kalka Mail and other articles from the spot.
The DSP Sanjay Ranjan said that a love affair was said to be the reason behind the murder.
The police said Sonu, who works in a hotel, hails from Rajwadih in Palamu district, poured inflamable material into room through the window and set it on fire before locking the room from outside. A 10 litre container was also found near the room.
Family sources said Sonu who was in love with his sister-in-law Rina, was infuriated as Rina's marriage had been fixed for February 7 and had committed the crime in retaliation. PTI
