Kota (Rajasthan): A 44-year-old man who allegedly raped a six-year-old girl has been ordered by a caste council of Rajasthan to marry his minor son to the victim.
Kailash Gujrati, a resident of Keshavpura here, had raped the girl who lives nearby his residence around 15 days back, police said.
The family members of the girl rather than making a police complaint, called a panchayat (caste) council meeting on the issue, Deputy Superintendent of Police Banwari Lal Meena, said.
Unfazed by the proceedings of the panchayat council, Kailash once again raped the girl yesterday, he said.
The accused allegedly lured the girl to his house and raped her, Meena said. The panch-patel (panchayat member) in their verdict yesterday ordered Kailash to marry his eight-year-old son to the victim.
Kailash, however, refused to accept panchayat's decision.
Some social activists came to know about the incident and brought the girl and her parents to Mahaveer Nagar police station in Kota and filed a complaint.
Following the complaint, Kailash has been arrested and the matter is being probed, Meena said adding, the medical examination of the girl has been conducted.
On the panchayat decision, the police official said the matter was being probed and the required action would be taken after it was completed.
