New Delhi, Aug 8: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday sent a bouquet to Congress president Sonia Gandhi's residence here wishing her a speedy recovery.
Sources in Trinamool Congress said that the bouquet sent by Banerjee to 10 Janpath, Gandhi's official residence, had a three word message which read “Get Well Soon”.
Banerjee, who is the leader of the second largest UPA ally Trinamool Congress with 19 MPs in Lok Sabha, shares a warm relationship with the Gandhi family and has been visiting the Congress President here on personal occassions including her birthday.
After her historic win in the Assembly elections in West Bengal, which saw the Congress-Trinamool combine trouncing the Left which ruled the state for three decades, Banerjee had met Gandhi at her residence in May this year and handed over a bouquet of red roses to the Congress president, who was seen putting her arm around Banerjee's shoulder.
Meanwhile, Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao on Sunday began an 11-day long religious ritual at his official residence here praying for the speedy recovery and long life of Gandhi, who underwent a surgey abroad on Thursday.
Rao is a Rajya Sabha member from Andhra Pradesh.
He also said that he had already started a similar Yagna on Saturday at the Mahakali Temple in Hyderabad, which will continue till the return of Gandhi from abroad.
Gandhi was on Saturday moved out of the ICU of the hospital where she underwent the surgery. There was no official update from the party today on the medical condition of Gandhi, neither is the party forthcoming about the name and place of the hospital.
