Kolkata/ Bankura, Mar 20: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today ordered the arrest of a Trinamool Congress councillor allegedly involved in violence at Dhapa on the city's eastern outskirts today leading to one death.
A person was killed and several others were injured in a clash between two groups owing allegiance to two different Trinamool Congress leaders over a vacant piece of land at Dhapa, police said.
One of the groups was led by local Trinamool Congress councillor S Kaur.
“I have already ordered the police to arrest Kaur. Law will take its own course. I don't spare anyone if anyone commits any mistake. It doesn't matter to me whether the wrongdoer belongs to my party or some other party. I am not like CPI(M). Anyone who will commit a mistake will be punished,” Banerjee told a rally in Bankura district.
The police said a person was seriously injured in the clash and admitted to a hospital where he later died.
The situation is now under control and security has been tightened in the area, they said.
