Lucknow, Apr 17: Doctors at the Trauma Centre of Lucknow's medical university on Sunday performed a surgery on volleyball athlete Arunima Sinha's severed leg, as it had got infected, reports India TV reporter Ruchi Kumar.
Arunima's other leg is also fractured and needs a steel rod to be inserted, but that surgery can be performed only after the infection in the severed leg is controlled, said Prof D k Gupta, vice-chancellor of Lucknow medical university.
Arunima alias Sonu was brought from Bareilly hospital to Lucknow medical college because she needed more surgeries.
Arunima was proceeding to Noida for a job interview for the post of CISF head constable, when robbers tried to snatch her gold chain on a running train near Bareilly. As Arunima protested, the robbers threw her off the train and Arunima lost her leg.
