'INDIA bloc will continue to fight against fascist rule of BJP led by Modi', says Mallikarjun Kharge
The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance achieved a majority with support from key allies, including N Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party and Nitish Kumar's JD(U), which won 16 and 12 seats respectively. Other alliance partners also contributed to crossing the halfway mark.
Lok Sabha Elections 2024 results: After the I.N.D.I.A bloc meeting concluded on Wednesday (June 5), Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge thanked the people for supporting them and said that the alliance would continue to fight against the fascist rule of the BJP led by PM Modi. Kharge added, "The constituents of the I.N.D.I.A bloc thank the people of India for the overwhelming support received by our alliance. The people's mandate has given a befitting reply to the BJP and their politics of hate and corruption. This is a mandate in defence of the Constitution of India and against price rise, unemployment and crony capitalism and also to save democracy. The I.N.D.I.A bloc will continue to fight against the fascist rule of the BJP led by Modi." The Election Commission of India has announced the results for all Lok Sabha constituencies, with the BJP securing 240 out of 543 seats and the Congress winning 99. Despite falling short of the 272 majority mark, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to form the government for a third consecutive term.

Congress President’s Opening Remarks for INDIA Meeting
1. I welcome all INDIA Alliance partners. We fought well, fought unitedly, fought resolutely.
2. The mandate is decisively against Mr. Modi, against him and the substance and style of his politics. It is a huge political loss for him personally apart from being a clear moral defeat as well.
3. However, he is determined to subvert the will of the people.
4. The INDIA Alliance welcomes all parties which shares its fundamental commitment to the values enshrined in the Preamble to our Constitution and to its many provisions for economic, social and political justice. -

'No revenge in politics, it's about sportsmanship in wins and losses', says KL Sharma
Congress' newly-elected Amethi MP Kishori Lal Sharma on Wednesday said the constituency for him was like an "amanat" of the Gandhi family and he would ensure there is no "amanat mein khayanat (breach of trust)". Sharma, who emerged as a giant slayer by defeating sitting BJP MP and Union minister Smriti Irani by a margin of over 1.67 lakh votes, does not see his victory in terms of a "revenge" of the defeat inflicted on Gandhi by Irani in 2019 in the constituency. "There is no revenge in politics. It is like sportsmanship, one has to win and the other loses. We don't see things in terms of revenge and all," Sharma told media. -
