Prime Minister Narendra Modi's elder brother Somabhai Modi today turned emotional while remembering their mother late Hiraba and said she would be showering her blessings on the PM from heaven. Somabhai Modi said just like the people, he also wants his brother to become the Prime Minister for the third time. "My mother is no more. But she must be giving her blessings to Narendrabhai from heaven right now," said a teary-eyed Somabhai outside a polling booth in Ranip locality here under the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency where PM Modi cast his vote in the morning.

Five generations of a family voted together at a polling station in Semli, Balrampur of Chhattisgarh. A voter turnout of 29.90 per cent was recorded in the first four hours of polling in seven of the 11 Lok Sabha constituencies in Chhattisgarh where polling was underway in the third and last phase of the general elections in the state on Tuesday, a poll official said. Polling is being held in Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Korba, Janjgir-Champa (reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates), Surguja (reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates) and Raigarh (ST) seats.

Around 24.41 per cent of over 98 lakh voters exercised their franchise in five Lok Sabha constituencies in Bihar till 11 am today, as per the Election Commission. Voting in Araria, Jhanjharpur, Supaul, Madhepura and Khagaria seats, all currently held by the NDA, began at 9,848 polling stations at 7 am amid tight security and will continue till 6 pm.

After casting her vote, Samajwadi Party MP and candidate from Mainpuri Dimple Yadav attacked the BJP-led government at the Centre. "People of every section are feeling neglected and the way unemployment is continuously increasing, the way inflation is continuously increasing, the way the value of the rupee is continuously falling in the international market, I think there is a huge deficiency and a huge flaw in the Bharatiya Janata Party...I think it is a fight of political ideology, fight for the protection of the Constitution and the protection of democracy," she added. 

BJP candidate from South Goa Lok Sabha seat, Pallavi Dempo cast her vote along with her family. She is contesting against the Congress candidate from the South Goa Lok Sabha seat, Captain Viriato Fernandes.

A voter turnout of 14.43 per cent was recorded till 9 am in 9 Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh.

Amid the third phase of voting, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Yadav asserted that people of the Muslim community should get full reservations. "The votes are on our side... They are saying that there will be 'Jungle Raj' because they are scared, they are trying to instigate... They want to finish the Constitution and democracy... 'Are toh reservation toh milna chahiye Musalmano ko, pura'..." he told the media. 

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, his wife and SP candidate from Mainpuri Lok Sabha Seat, Dimple Yadav cast their votes at a polling station in Uttar Pradesh's Saifai. Speaking to the media, the SP chief said that the BJP people should be punished for "hurting people" by making them vote in the summer. "BJP people should also be punished for this, although they will say that this is the decision of the Election Commission, BJP people deliberately make you vote in the summer to hurt you. This voting could have taken place a month earlier. I appeal to all my colleagues and voters to vote in large numbers," Akhilesh added. 

Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena cast his vote at a polling station in Prakash Higher Secondary School in Ahmedabad. In the third phase, more than 1300 candidates, including around 120 women, are in the fray. "I am glad that I have come here from Delhi to cast my vote. There is an atmosphere of festivity in parts of the country. We should remember that voting is our right and we must exercise it. I appeal to the people of the country to come out and cast their votes and choose a stable government..." he told the media. 

Former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai cast his vote in Haveri. He is facing Congress candidate, Anandswamy Gaddadevarmath in Haveri. "I appeal to people to come out and vote and participate in this festival of democracy," Bommai told media. 

Congress has fielded Radhakrishna from Kalaburagi constituency and BJP has fielded Umesh G Jadhav.  

A presiding officer at a polling booth in Supaul passed away allegedly due to heart attack. He has been identified as Shailendra Kumar.

"The people are quite disappointed and this time they will vote for progress," he said.

He is contesting as an independent candidate from Shimoga constituency. BJP has fielded party MP B.Y. Raghavendra as its candidate from here while Congress has fielded Geetha Shivarajkumar.

Madhya Pradesh: Women voters sang folk songs as they arrived to cast their votes at a polling booth in Vidisha Lok Sabha constituency.

"People are regretting that they made a mistake last time and they will elect Congress party with a huge majority," he said.

"In a strong democracy, the Constitution should be kept at the centre and third phase of voting is taking place, it should be done peacefully," she said.

A voter turnout of 10.81 per cent was recorded till 9 am, as per the Elections Commission. The polling across 93 constituencies had started at 7 am today.

During the third phase of polling, in Uttar Pradesh's Kasganj, a voter with disabilities named Rahul was brought to a polling booth by his father to cast his vote. "I have voted in past as well, in earlier elections. It feels great..." Rahul told the media. 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah showed a victory sign after casting his vote in Ahmedabad. Speaking to the media, he also urged voters across the country and also to the voters of Gujarat to come forward and participate in this festival of democracy and elect a stable government that provides a safe, prosperous country. "Elect a government which is against corruption, wants to eradicate poverty, wants to make a self-reliant India, wants to make a developed India and wants to take India number one in every field in the whole world," he added. 

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel casts his vote at a polling booth in Ahmedabad. "The festival of democracy is being celebrated. The polling for the third phase is underway. I have also voted. It is our responsibility to vote. All of you should vote for 'Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat'," he said after casting his vote. 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah casts his vote at a polling booth in Ahmedabad. His family members including his wife and son and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah also cast their votes. Shah is the party's candidate from the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat. Congress has fielded its party secretary Sonal Patel from Gandhinagar.

Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, his mother Asha Pawar, and his wife-NCP candidate from Baramati Lok Sabha Constituency Sunetra Pawar cast their votes at a polling booth in the constituency, earlier this morning. NCP-SCP leader Supriya Sule is the sitting MP and the party candidate from the constituency.

NCP-SCP chief Sharad Pawar casts his vote at a polling booth in Baramati. NSP-SCP has fielded Supriya Sule from the Baramati seat. NCP has fielded Sunetra Pawar, wife of Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar from Baramati.

BJP MLA from Jamnagar, Rivaba Jadeja casts her vote at polling station number 122, Pandit Deendayal Vidya Bhawan for the third phase of elections. Congress has fielded JP Maraviya from the Jamnagar Lok Sabha seat and BJP has fielded Poonamben Maadam.

Union Health Minister and BJP candidate from Porbandar, Mansukh Mandaviya cast his vote at a Hanol Primary School, Booth number 12, in Porbandar.  Congress has fielded Lalit Vasoya from this seat.

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP candidate from Vidisha, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his family cast their votes at a polling booth in Sehore. Congress has fielded Pratap Bhanu Sharma from here Vidisha. BJP's Ramakant Bhargava is the sitting MP from the seat. 

Voters of Dhubri Ghat in Assam were seen using boats to arrive at a polling booth to cast their votes during the third phase of polling. In the third phase, voting is being held at four Lok Sabha seats in the state. 

Amid the ongoing third phase of voting for the Lok Sabha Elections, tensions flared as a clash erupted between a TMC booth president and BJP candidate Dhananjay Ghosh at a polling booth in West Bengal's Jangipur.  "I am a BJP candidate and I have been threatened by TMC's booth agent...If a candidate can be treated like this, what can happen to common people. We will complain about this to the Election Commission," said Ghosh.

Actor Riteish Deshmukh and his wife Genelia Deshmukh cast their votes at a polling booth in Maharashtra's Latur. NDA has fielded sitting MP Sudhakar Tukaram Shrangare against INDIA Alliance's Kalge Shivaji Bandappa.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah met people at a residential society in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He is the party's candidate from the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat. Congress has fielded its party secretary Sonal Patel from Gandhinagar.

Urging people to vote in large numbers in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday said they will exercise their franchise not just to elect their representatives but to decide whether they want to secure their constitutional rights or witness the nation "veer towards dictatorship". In a post on X, Kharge said, "Vote to save Constitution, vote to protect democracy! 11 crore people in 93 constituencies shall exercise their democratic right, not just to elect their representatives, but shall decide whether they want to secure their constitutional rights or witness our great nation veer towards dictatorship." "I sincerely urge you to choose democracy, so that our institutions can return to their independent form and are not pressed under the thumb of brute power," the Congress chief added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his X account to show his indelible fingure after casting his vote in Ahmedabad.  "Voted in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections! Urging everyone to do so as well and strengthen our democracy," he posted along with his photo. 

BJP has fielded Ram Vitthal Satpute from Solapur. BJP's Dr.Jaisiddeshwar Shivacharya Mahaswamiji is the sitting MP from Solapur.

"As a voter in Gujarat, this is the only place where I vote regularly and Amit Bhai is contesting from here as a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate," PM Modi said while speaking to the reporters after casting his vote.

"'Sarva Dharma Sambhaav' will remain alive," Shinde said as the third phase of polling is underway.

Amid the ongoing polling for the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cast their votes at Nishan Higher Secondary School in Ahmedabad. He also showed also showed the indelible ink mark on his finger after casting his vote. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the polling booth in Ahmedabad to cast his vote. He was welcomed by Union Minister Amit Shah there. Both leaders will cast their votes shortly. The Prime Minister was also seen greeting people at the polling booth.

Maharashtra Congress leader Amit Deshmukh and his wife Aditi Deshmukh cast their votes at a polling booth in Latur.  While BJP has fielded sitting MP Sudhakar Shrangare from here, he faces Congress' Kalge Bandappa here. 

Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi arrived at a polling booth to cast his vote. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded its state unit chief CR Patil from Navsari seat and the Indian National Congress (INC) has fielded Naishadh Desai. 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived at Nishan Higher Secondary School in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also arrive here shortly to cast his vote. The Narendra Modi-led BJP is seeking a third term in power, while the opposition INDIA bloc is aiming to wrest power by stopping the juggernaut.

Karnataka BJP candidate Dr Umesh Jadhav cast his vote. He also showed the indelible ink mark on his finger after casting his vote at a polling booth in Kalaburagi. Congress has fielded party chief Mallikarjun Kharge's son-in-law Radhakrishna Doddamani against him. 

Preparations are underway at Nishan Higher Secondary School in Ahmedabad where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will cast his vote for the the third phase of polling today. 25 Parliamentary constituencies of the state will go to polls today. BJP candidate from Surat, Mukesh Dalal was elected unopposed from his seat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged all eligible voters participating in today's phase to cast their votes in record numbers, emphasizing that their active engagement would enhance the vibrancy of the elections. "Urging all those who are voting in today’s phase to vote in record numbers. Their active participation will certainly make the elections more vibrant," he posted on X.

Voting for the third phase of Lok Sabha Elections has begun across 93 constituencies in 11 states and Union Territories. 17.24 crore voters are casting their votes today. The voting will continue till 6 pm today. 

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP candidate from Vidisha, Shivraj Singh Chouhan offered prayers at his residence in Jait village of Sehore. Speaking to the media, he also appealed to people to vote in large numbers.  "I appeal to everyone that elections are the 'mahautsav' of democracy. Voting is the symbol of our dedication to democracy...I appeal to everyone to cast their votes..." he added. 

Mock polls are underway across different states for the third phase of the Lok Sabha election, which is set to begin at 7 am today. Polling for more than half of the total number of constituencies will be completed by the end of this phase.

Originally, voting was scheduled to be held on 94 Lok Sabha seats in the third phase. However elections were rescheduled from the second to the third phase in the Betul Lok Sabha seat of Madhya Pradesh due to the death of the BSP candidate, the BJP candidate in Surat has been declared the winner unopposed and due to revised polling schedule in Anantnag-Rajouri seat, the total seats now going to poll are 93.

Several prominent candidates including Home Minister Amit Shah, Parshottam Rupala, CR Patil, Mansukh Mandaviya, Mansukhbhai Vasava, Devusinh Jesingbhai Chauhan, Rajesh Chudasama, Poonamben Maadam, Tushar Chaudhary, Paresh Dhanani, Lalitbhai Vasoya, Chaitar Vasava, Geniben Thakor, Jagadish Shettar, B Sriramulu, Basavaraj Bommai, Pralhad Joshi, BY Raghavendra, Geeta Shivarajkumar, Prabha Mallikarjun, etc.,are in the fray in the third phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.
