Lok Sabha Elections 2024 LIVE updates: In the first phase of Lok Sabha polling across 102 constituencies across 21 states, an aggregate 62. 37 voter turnout was recorded on Friday. The next polling date is April 26. Meanwhile, the politicians intensified their attacks against rivals to woo voters.
Lok Sabha Elections 2024 LIVE updates: The voting took place in 102 constituencies across 21 states and Union Territories in the first of the seven-phase elections on Friday. An aggregate 62. 37 per cent voter turnout was recorded in phase one of the Lok Sabha polls. The Election Commission (EC) said "The voting percentage is likely to go upwards when reports from all polling stations are obtained as polling is scheduled till 6 pm in many constituencies. Final figures will be known on Saturday after the scrutiny of form 17A," the EC said. Now, the politicians focus on the areas which will go to vote in the second phase on April 26 across 13 states and UTs. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Karnataka and Maharashtra on Saturday to address two public meetings. PM Modi addressed a public meeting at Chokkahalli village in Chikkballapura. On the other side, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav will address the first joint poll rally in I.N.D.I.A bloc candidate Kunwar Danish Ali in Amroha today.

Repolling at 11 polling stations in Manipur on April 22
Manipur chief electoral officer on Saturday announced repolling at 11 polling stations in Inner Manipur Lok Sabha constituency on April 22. The decision follows a directive from the Election Commission to declare the polls held at these stations on April 19 as null and void and schedule fresh polling. The affected polling stations are Moirangkampu Sajeb and Thongam Leikai in Khurai constituency, four in Kshetrigao and one in Thongju in Imphal East district and three in Uripok and one in Konthoujam in Imphal West district, the official said. Incidents of firing, intimidation, destruction of EVMs at some polling booths and allegations of booth capturing were reported from conflict-hit Manipur that recorded a turnout of 72 per cent in the two Lok Sabha constituencies - Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur - on Friday.

Tamil Nadu voter turnout at 69.46 per cent, says EC
The Election Commission revised the voter turnout in Tamil Nadu for the Lok Sabha polls held on Friday to 69. 46 per cent, from the earlier 72 per cent. State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Satyabrata Sahoo had on Friday said the state witnessed a turnout of 72. 09 per cent. However, officials had then indicated there could be changes in the turnout figure. Asked about the difference in the figures, officials on Saturday said the earlier "figures were based on sample data from some polling stations," and that the accurate numbers were arrived upon past midnight.
