Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Highlights: The Lok Sabha polls commenced on April 19 followed by subsequent phases on April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1. The counting of votes will be done on June 4 (Tuesday).

Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Highlights: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday continued his attack on said I.N.D.I.A. bloc parties, saying the alliance wants to turn the country's majority community into second-class citizens and also alleged that "jihadis" across the border are supporting the Samajwadi Party and the Congress. He attacked the parties of the opposition bloc, alleging they are planning to rewrite the Constitution to provide reservation on the basis of religion. The prime minister was in Uttar Pradesh's Purvanchal region to address rallies in Ghosi, Deoria and Mirzapur in support of BJP and NDA Lok Sabha poll candidates contesting in the seventh and last phase of the general elections on June 1. On the other hand, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge hit back at PM Modi for his ‘mujra' remark against Opposition leaders, saying the PM "insulted Bihar".

    Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said the government is working on removing the trust deficit between the Meitei and Kuki communities to bring lasting peace in Manipur, and the process will be expedited with utmost priority once the Lok Sabha election is over. Shah told media in an interview on Saturday that the clashes between the Meitei and Kuki communities were ethnic in nature and hence cannot be resolved through force. "This is not an issue of riots or terrorism. This is an issue of ethnic violence. It can't be resolved through force. This is ethnic violence," he said when asked whether the government needed to take some strong action to end the cycle of violence in the northeastern state.

    A voter turnout of 71 per cent was recorded in Odisha's six Lok Sabha seats and 42 assembly constituencies where polling was held simultaneously in the state's third round, an official said on Sunday. Of the 94,48,553 voters, 70.99 per cent exercised their franchise on Saturday across 10,581 booths in Sambalpur, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Puri Lok Sabha seats, and the 42 assembly constituencies that form them.
