Lok Sabha election 2024: Ahead of voting for the second phase, Congress and BJP are locked in a bitter war of words. PM Modi, who is leading BJP's campaign, attacked Congress on Sam Pitroda's comment on inheritance tax, while Rahul Gandhi hit back at PM on unemployment and inflation.
Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The stage is set for the voting in phase 2 in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 as the poll campaigning for the second phase ended on Wednesday. Now, the voting will take place on April 26 (Friday). In the second phase, polling will take place in 88 constituencies across 13 states and Union Territories. The first phase was held on April 19 in 102 constituencies. On the last day of the campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the people of Madhya Pradesh, while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi held a rally in Maharashtra's Amravati, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Wayanad. Meanwhile, the election officials in Gautam Buddh Nagar will on Thursday report for their duty at Phool Mandi in Noida Sector 82 where the poll strong room is located, Verma said, adding all arrangements have been made for their stay. People in Gautam Buddh Nagar constituency (Noida) will also cast votes tomorrow. Gautam Buddh Nagar constituency includes five assembly areas of Noida, Dadri, Jewar, Khurja and Sikandrabad. Of the five assembly segments, Khurja and Sikandrabad lie in Bulandshahr district but are part of Gautam Buddh Nagar Lok Sabha constituency.

Noida set for Lok Sabha poll: 20,000 poll personnel to facilitate voting for 26.75 lakh voters
Gautam Buddh Nagar is set for the Lok Sabha election on Friday and around 20,000 personnel will be on polling duty to facilitate the process for more than 26.75 lakh registered voters in the constituency, according to officials. "Of the personnel on poll duty, around 11,000 are from the security, including police, paramilitary, civil force, and homeguards, while about 9,000 are administrative staff and officers who will be deployed at voting booths and stations," District Election Officer Manish Kumar Verma told PTI. There are 1,852 booths in the constituency and live web casting will be done on 931 of them, while the remaining will have provisions for either CCTV or videography. The constituency has 164 vulnerable booths and 165 critical booths, he said.

Filing of nomination forms for Nashik, Dindori seats to begin from Friday
The filing of nomination forms for Nashik and Dindori Lok Sabha constituencies will start from Friday, collector Jalaj Sharma said. Nomination forms can be filed till May 3, scrutiny will take place the next day and candidature can be withdrawn till May 6. Voting will take place on May 20, he said on Thursday. In Dindori Lok Sabha constituency, there 18,51,972 voters, comprising 9,59,658 males, 8,92,297 females and 17 transgender persons. It has 1,922 polling centres. In Nashik, there 20,24,085 voters, of which 10,56,006 are males, 9,68,001 females and 78 are transgender persons. There are 1,910 polling centres in the constituency.

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday released his party manifesto, a day before voting in the second phase of the Lok Sabha polls, focusing on stopping the "loot" of Maharashtra, job creation and farm loan waiver. Thackeray said the Sena (UBT), in association with the INDI Alliance government, will work to “bring back the glory of Maharashtra”. Referring to the GIFT City in Gandhinagar, he said a financial centre, which he claimed was moved to Gujarat, will be built in Maharashtra, enabling employment opportunities in the state. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Thursday announced two more candidates for Punjab for the Lok Sabha polls. Law enforcement agencies have seized drugs, unaccounted cash, liquor and valuables worth Rs 321.51 crore in Punjab since the model code of conduct came into force last month for the Lok Sabha polls. Amritsar district topped the list with seizures worth Rs 60.3 crore. Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sibin C said drugs worth Rs 287.23 crore, unaccounted cash worth Rs 6.89 crore, liquor (22.8 lakh litres) valued at Rs 14.93 crore, precious metals and other items amounting to Rs 12.46 crore were seized.

Noida: BJP and SP spend almost equal funds
The campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections in Noida and Greater Noida in Gautam Buddh Nagar constituency ended at 6 pm on Wednesday, officials said. BJP candidate Mahesh Sharma incurred the maximum expenditure of Rs 47. 68 lakh during the campaign closely followed by Samajwadi Party candidate Mahendra Singh Nagar at Rs 46. 42 lakh while BSP's Rajendra Singh Solanki spent Rs 34. 06 lakh, according to official data. The maximum expenditure limit permitted by the Election Commission to a Lok Sabha candidate is Rs 95 lakh.
