The National Democratic Alliance leaders have unanimously approved PM Modi's name as their leader and extended support to the BJP to form the next government at the Centre.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and INDIA bloc have held post Lok Sabha election meetings with their respective alliance partners to examine poll results and formulate strategy for the government formation. On Wednesday, NDA held a key meeting with its allies including Nitish Kumar, Chandrababu Naidu, Chirag Paswan, Jayant Chaudhary, Anupriya Patel among others during which they approved PM Modi's name as their alliance leader. According to reports, PM Modi is set to take oath on June 9 for the third time. Several world leaders are being invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony. Meanwhile, opposition's INDIA bloc also held its meeting and said that they will make right move at the right time.

    Advocate General Ashok Kumar Parija, two advisors to the chief minister and the IT secretary have resigned from their posts after the fall of the BJD government in Odisha.     Model code of conduct lifted: Election Commission

    The model code of conduct that came into force on March 16 with the announcement of the Lok Sabha election has been lifted. In a communication to the Union Cabinet Secretary and state chief secretaries, the Election Commission said as results of Lok Sabha elections and assembly polls in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, along with some assembly bypolls have been declared, "model code of conduct has ceased to be in operation with immediate effect". The model code of conduct is a set of conventions agreed upon by all stakeholders and imposed during elections. Its objective is to keep the campaigning, polling and counting process orderly, clean and peaceful and check any abuse of state machinery and finances by the party in power.

    BJD forms committee to examine cause of election defeat

    The BJD on Wednesday decided to form a committee to examine the cause of its defeat in the elections in Odisha, a party leader said. BJD's Kendrapara MLA Ganeswar Behera said the decision was taken at the meeting chaired by party president Naveen Patnaik with the newly-elected legislators.
