In pics: Twin blasts inside a train at Chennai railway station, 1 killed, suspect held

Chennai: One woman was killed and 14 others were injured when two bombs in two coaches of the Bangalore-Guwahati train blasted Thursday, barely 10 minutes after it entered the Chennai railway station.Sources say a man who was hiding in the train is being questioned.Blasts were of low intensity and as per the eye witness, 1 woman has been killed due to the blast and 14 are reportedly injured.The others injured are not in a serious condition.A person at the station told IANS: "The blast sound was not very loud. On seeing people running away from the train we knew something was wrong."He said there was not much of a damage to the rail coach and only a seat was damaged. Inside the compartment, the passenger baggages were strewn around.Later, the police cordoned off the area, he said.The police said closed circuit television pictures at Bangalore will also be checked.Senior police and railway officials are at the railway station.After these blasts, surveillance has been increased on all trains and stations in Andhra Pradesh.Team of Forensic experts has been send to the venue to know about the nature of blast that took place. Southern Railway authorities have provided the helpline numbers regarding any information of the blast: 044- 25357398, 080 22356409, 080 22876288. According to Mishra, an ex-gratia of Rs.100,000 has been announced for the kin of the dead, Rs.25,000 for those who suffered serious injuries and Rs.5,000 for those who suffered minor injuries.South Western Railways has released a list of people injured and died in the blast, which are as follows: DECEASED:1.
