Patna, June 18; The BJP today said it was not opposed to taking part in an all party me “We are not opposed to participate in An all-party meeting to seek views ... but firstly, we would like to have the views of the Congress and the government on bringing the Prime Minister within the ambit of Lokpal,” BJP chief spokesperson Ravishankar Prasad told reporters here.

Stating that the there was no unanimity in the Congress and the government on the issue, Prasad claimed while a Congress leader was in favour bringing the PM within the ambit of Lokpal, others were opposed to it.  “The Congress and the government should at least come out with its tentative view on the subject,” he said, adding that the country would like to know.

When told about former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's reported statement that the PM should be brought within the purview of the Lokpal, Prasad said “we know it.”

“We in the BJP have a categorical view on the issue of corruption,” he said while declining to answer whether his party favoured the stand of Gandhian Anna Hazare on the PM being brought within the ambit of the proposed legislation.

Prasad said he was putting four questions to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to which people would like her reply.  “Why were you silent when the Prime Minister and entire government, besides Congress leaders defended A Raza, the then telecom Minister, when his involvement surfaced in the Rs 1.76 lakh 2G Spectrum scam,” he said.  He questioned what Gandhi did when the Shunglu Committee set up by the Prime Minister indicted the Sheila Dixit government in the CWG scam.

He sought an explanation from Gandhi on how files related to the Adarsh Housing project went missing.  “The last question I will raise is why are you silent on the issue when the Lokayukta recommended dismissal of the Raj Kumar Chavan and the President rejected the report,” Prasad said.

He criticised Congress leaders for describing Anna Hazare as ‘an autocrat' and yoga guru Baba Ramdev as a ‘fraud'.He said if Ramdev was a fraud then what was the necessity for four union ministers going to the airport to hold talks with him.  PTI
