Bhubaneswar: Truck services in Odisha is likely to be affected as the Odisha Truck Owners' Association has called for an indefinite strike from today.
About 1 lakh truckers will join the stir as the government failed to meet their demands, including hike in fares, Association sources said.
The Association announced this after its talks with state transport minister Subrat Tarai failed earlier in the day.
The Association on December 30 had threatened to launch the stir from January 15 if its 7-point charter of demands, including fare hike was not met by the government.
A delegation of the Association had put forward its demand before the government and the truckers had demanded implementation of the report of the technical committee on fare hike with immediate effect.
