Hyderabad/Visakhapatnam: Life in Seemandhra region today came to a halt as the Centre introduced the controversial Telangana Bill in Parliament.

All buses and trucks were off the road. Till noon, the bandh was reported to be peaceful in all 13 districts of Seemandhra region.

The bandh call has been given by Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers Association and YSR Congress.

The AP non-gazetted officers association has appealed to all shops, business establishments, educational institutions and other service sector people to participate in the bandh.

People came out on the streets in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and other cities of Seemandhra region to oppose the introduction of Telangana bill.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has decided to go ahead with his decision to quit today.

He is also believed to have told confidants that he will be launching a new political party soon.
