New Delhi: UP forest department officials have given the green signal to shoot a tigress declared maneater, after she killed four people in Moradabad district.
The tigress has created a reign of terror in Sambhal, Moradabad and Bijnore.
Three shooters have been hired by the forest department, and wildlife officials have launched a massive search operation.
The forest officials have been searching for the tigress since 13 days. However, the big cat had eluded the trap laid by forest officials to tranquillize it.
The tigress fled the village where officials laid a trap and is already 70 km away.
After the death of second villager, the locals demanded that the tigress be declared a man eater.
Though state forest department has roped in ‘professional hunters' for killing the tigress, the state forest department chief said that his first priority would be to tranquilize and catch the tigress alive. Killing the animal would be the last resort, said Rupak De.
