Chennai: A man-eating tiger that killed three people recently in Tamil Nadu's Nilgiris district was shot dead by forest officials Wednesday, said an official.
District Collector P.Shankar told IANS over phone: "It is true the tiger has been shot dead by the forest department officials."
The tiger that started its man hunt early this month had killed three people, two cows and two goats.
It was first shot near Kundachappai village and disappeared. Its body was discovered later.
People were terror-struck since the tiger made its appearance and killed three people. Schools functioned for restricted hours and people came back home before dark.
