New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is adamant on holding an open Assembly session on Jan Lokpal Bill at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium starting this Sunday.
Rejecting Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung's request to rethink over his decision on holding the Assembly session inside the stadium, Kejriwal slammed Delhi Police and said, paramilitary forces should be deployed at the venue if Delhi Police feels “incompetent” to provide security.
In a press release, Kejriwal questioned whether Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi should continue in his position if he feels incompetent to do so.
In an eccentric move, Kejriwal has invited the general public to the final day of the assembly session.
In his letter today, he asked, "If the police cannot provide security in one stadium, how can it be expected to keep the entire city safe?"
“The CM has stated that it is surprising to note that the police is expressing its inability to provide protection to the ministers and MLAs and in such a scenario if police cannot provide security in one stadium how can it be expected to keep the entire city safe?,” read the statement.
